Delegate Bob Marshall’s laws allows Northern Virginia counties to exempt real estate taxes on homes worth $540,000 (up from $340,000) for seniors and disabled persons with incomes up to $75,000 who have very limited assets. This makes it easier for seniors/disabled on fixed incomes to remain in NOVA where they lived and raised their families.. (HB 121, 2006, HB 1744, 2007).
Delegate Bob Marshall voted for income tax credits for Long Term Care Insurance. (SB 287, 2007)
Delegate Bob Marshall supported expanding Long Term Care services including home health care and community medical care, retrofitting existing housing, home-delivered meals, telephone reassurance, friendly visiting, and congregate meals and access to public transit. Keeping seniors out of institutions as long as possible benefits seniors, families and taxpayers. (HB 2032, 2007)
Bob Marshall helped his wife and many citizens organize to keep the PWC Manassas Senior Day Program open for an additional year, to assist working families to care for dependent relatives at home as long as possible, and to reduce taxpayer burden for Medicaid subsidies in nursing homes.
