Power Lines

In 2007 I voted against Dominion Power being able to raise consumer electric rates because they over earned by $1 Billion during the capped rate period, and paid $750 Million in cash for four out of state power plants in 2005, as well as borrowed $1 Billion in 2006.

I also testified before the U.S. Department of Energy and the Virginia State Corporation Commission against the unnecessary 550 KV power lines in Prince William and Loudoun.

I sponsored HB 3130, a new law which passed both the House and Senate and was signed into law, to empower counties, cities, and towns to designate power line corridors, including underground lines.  Before this law, counties had no direct authority to make such decisions which were left to the power companies.
